Why Malaysia?

Malaysia is a unique blend of people with ethnic origins in the Malay, Indian, Chinese and many other traditions. This colourful combination is the reason for Malaysia’s extensive diversity in culinary choice and its bustling festivals. Malaysians are known to be laid back and very friendly, and love to socialise and celebrate. A trait quite commonly spread through South East Asia.

Geographically the country continues its unusual impression as it is divided in the middle by roughly 400km ocean where the Java Sea and South China Sea meet. Western Malaysia houses 11 states and two federal territories (Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya). The western part is a peninsula, connecting to Thailand in the north and also accommodating Singapore in the far south, while eastern Malaysia is situated on the island of Borneo. Two states, Sabah and Sawarak, and a federal territory (the island of Labuan) make up the Malaysian part of Borneo which has land borders to Indonesia and Brunei. The Indonesians call the island of Borneo “Kalimantan”.

Malaysia is furthermore one of 17 megadiverse countries. The classification is meant to express that these countries house the majority of Earths Species. Given this fact Malaysia also delivers extreme contrasts with huge skyscrapers and five-star hotels amidst ancient natural wonders.

From the warm sandy beaches through Mangroves and forests, over the floodplains to the rainforest and up the towering mountains - a perfect holiday full of surprises awaits you in Malaysia!
